robfg67
Have you guys read this write-up about fixing the 4.0 engine blowing oil into the air cleaner? http://jeep.off-road.com/jeep/article/a ... ?id=257985 My engine is doing the same thing! The crankcase breather hose that connects to the air cleaner is cracked at the connection point at the valve cover and is also blowing a small amount of oil onto the air filter. This write-up recommends buying a complete kit (part #4762592) from the dealer. Would you guys recommend replacing just the front crankcase breather hose-I’m thinking of just grabbing a used one from a Cherokee at the local bone yard tomorrow. JeepcoMJ
common problem. the used one will probably have the same issue. it's best to just replace it with new parts.

JeepcoMJ
JeepcoMJ, can you tell us what you paid for your rig? Every time I see you post, I wonder how much could it be? $300 when I got it with a blown tranny but minimal rust. $2000 for the paint job (regret every penny of that...i no longer trust body men) $350 for the wrecked camaro..... turn that $350 into around $1300 for the swap $450 for the first lift (3") $500 for the tires then all the little parts, the parts rig for 4x4, etc. a bunch of other little things over time. (there's almost 4,000 dollars lost in transit here) as of now, I have around $7500 into her all told now....and I'll have to dump more into paint and stripper so I can repair the bedside. plus I need new tires for when I drop the 6.5" lift in it. I had a complete tally at one point...but I don't really care any more. it's a money pit I know, and will continue to be so. I'm 21 in a little less than 2 weeks, and my dad and I built the original version of her in the fall of 2004...I didn't drive her until march 2005. thanks for the interest :D I'm loving comanches, every minute of them...Dad got me hooked with his 86 factory diesel...and eventually i found this great site (thanks Pete) -Pat
robfg67
I know what you mean. I "bought" my '89 for $400 and have put almost $4K into her in the past 6 months. And now a crankcase hose!
robfg67
Mattpioneer, is that $50 for the crankcase hose only? Is that from the Jeep dealer?
Eagle
There are three parts required to replace the entire CCV system. They are available through NAPA for a lot less than Jeep dealer prices.
