DansGreyMj
i was wondering if it was hard to swap the stationary windows to vent windows, does anybody have a link to this type of swap to see the difficulty of it thanks to future help Dan
Pete M
It pretty straight forward. Grab yourself a Chiltons or Heynes shop manual from an auto parts store and that'll give you step-by-step instructions with pictures. Even better is the Factory Shop Manual, but for this type of swap the common store manuals will do just fine. Make sure the vent windows you buy are tight fitting in their frames. I bought a set from the junkyard and didn't realize that one of them wobbled a bit and that leads to whistling on the road.
Eagle
You don't change just the window. What you swap is the glass, the surrounding frame, and the forward track for the large window (which is part of the vent window frame assembly. It's a fairly straightforward swap. Be advised, however, that the vent windows leak. The only certain way to stop them from leaking is silicone sealant. My '88 Cherokee had vent windows from the factory. I haven't opened them for 16 years. When I initially complained that they leaked, the official factory warranty repair was to remove them and replace with the stationary windows. At the time I refused, but now I wish I had accepted.
