maddzz1 Posted March 3, 2008 Share Posted March 3, 2008 The lower transmission line connects to the radiator with some hose that has a metal fitting that has a silver collar that is crimped over it and the rubber hose. It is similar to the ones on the lines that run to the heater and the pressure bottle. How do I get it off? I am trying to replace the radiator. Do I need to buy a new one after? can I just buy some hose and use hose clamps? If I buy a new one what tool do I need to crimp the silver metal piece? Can someone make these click free. aerocorey Posted March 3, 2008 Share Posted March 3, 2008 It should have a threaded fitting that you can unscrew from the radiator. If you have the new radiator on hand you can look where the hose goes in and see if there's a threaded port for it. If you do end up haing to cut the hose you can have a new one made at alot of small parts stores. Some of them will have signs in the window saying "WE MAKE HOSES". If I unscrew that nut on the radiator the little elbow piece is part of the rad. It is also like that on the new rad. In the first pic there is also one of those crimped over the hard tranny line. If you can, I'll bet you $20 that if you unscrew the nut all the way the elbow will pull straight out of the radiator and you'll be able to reuse it on the new one. Thanks, I was just about to cut the line behind the clamp ans use a hose clamp to attach to the new radiator. This is why this site rocks. HOrnbrod Posted March 3, 2008 Share Posted March 3, 2008 Yes, you place the correct size tool around the hard line (ID is the same as the hard line), then slide it into the quick disconnect fitting to release the keeper prongs inside.
