tarmac2dirt Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Hello, As the title shows, how are you guys installing the the oil pump screen to a new oil pump ( screen is new too). I know its a press fit but are you guys using any special tool. I have seen a driver on you tube and found them for sale on several suppliers. Other ppl claim to use a 5/8 or 16mm open end wrench around the tube. Others heat the pump body and chill the tube to help with the press work. Or is it just a real pain to get it installed. Would definitely like to know how you guys are doing it. Thanks, Paul
ghetdjc320 Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago I’ve used the open end wrench method then tack welded it into place.
AZJeff Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago A crows foot wrench with a socket extension and a dead blow mallet worked for me. Mine had a bracket spot welded to the tube, the other end of which was attached one of the oil pump retaining bolts. I was confident it wasn’t coming loose.
