eaglescout526
Not MJ but I trust y’all more than Facebook and a dead forum. I fixed the alignment on my Eagle. Went for a test drive for the alignment, turned the car off. Cleaned the oil pressure switch connector and tested to see if the light bulb was burnt out or if the switch was bad. Tested such and suddenly the FM on my radio came back to life. Not sure what did it but I was happy. Now I’ve lost that. And not sure how I lost such either other than I went into a turn lane, car started bogging a little and then lost the radio. Any ideas? I’ll probably tear into the dash for a loose connector or maybe a bad ground. What’s weird is the previous radio came back to life in a similar way but thought it was just the fact the radio was old or problematic but now I’m thinking I’ve got some off wiring issue. To add there’s no static on FM of any kind, AM can get a signal but sounds really choppy. Anyone had such an issue in their MJ or any other vehicle? Snowstorm87MJ
Honestly i wonder if the coax on your antenna internally has rubbed away and it starts interfering with metal. (Just a shot in the dark) unless something is actually wrong with the radio. Could try one of those fm transmitters i use for my xj and mj and if it picks that up then its either something potentially de soldered in the radio or again the antenna and wire. I’d guess. Could be the actual wires too. Poor grounding can cause interference.

However FM functionality came back this morning. Minuit did tell me that this unit and the previous AM/FM only unit does have FM issues. But I’ll look at the coax and investigate that. And the eagle is known for bad and unlocatable grounds.

Yeah honestly if he says that he’s probably right. He is the radio champion here.

And with that being said. He is correct. The radio is at fault. Tested a total of 4 radios. Two worked. One had a bad VFD and front panel to work with and the last one just didn’t want to. One day I will learn how to fix these radios.
