North Run Posted July 11 Share Posted July 11 So I've had my Comanche off the road since 2013. Started it up and dove it around the storage yards annually. Until the pandemic I never had an issue. The new owners felt the need to siphon my full tank of fuel. So when I went to pick it up last summer it was no go. Had to winch it onto and off the trailer to bring it home. Due to a hip issue it's been parked and neglected since. Now I want to put it back on the road. It gets better fuel economy and funner to drive them my 2500HD. It'll crank all day long but not fire. Lots of spark, fuel pressure at the TBI, not sure how much. I know I replaced the fuel pump back in 2011 or 2012. I pulled the fuel filter and when I turn the key, it only cycles for maybe 3 seconds. Having not driven or worked on my baby since 2012, I can't remember if that is normal. I'm at the point of dropping the tank and testing and inspecting. The last 3 days have convinced me the world has indeed moved on since 2012, lol. 3 days to get in a fuel filter, & distributor cap. Amazingly they still had spark plugs and a rotor cap. I foresee a trip into the closest city tomorrow morning and the closest pick n pull. So long rambling story aside, is my pump running for 2-3 seconds normal? I wish I had not lent out my boroscope, it never came back :(, I know the tank was almost factory new when I replaced the pump the last time. North Run Posted July 14 Author Share Posted July 14 Wish I would have taken a picture of the injector when I pulled it out. Judging by the amount of corrosion I'm going to be dropping the fuel tank and cleaning. So I can get a new fuel pump if needed within a few days for $110. North Run Posted July 25 Author Share Posted July 25 Well after dropping the tank, I discovered about 1 gallon of water. So I have about 7 gallons of really expensive campfire starter, lol. New Fuel Pump, New Strainer, New Fuel filter, tank thoroughly cleaned, fuel lines cleaned. As far as I can tell the Injector is completely pooched. That said I will keep an eye out for a semi local injector rebuilder. Have a new Blue Steak Injector ordered and on the way. $315 from Eastern Canada. If you have this engine and you find a spare injector for cheap, grab it. Of all the Cherokees and Comanches that I searched through 14 years ago I never would have thought that finding an injector would be such a PITA, lol. Blue Streak TJ39 is the injector I found, according to the pictures and specs, it should be the one, I will update when it actually arrives.
