Boom finished design

Final-design.png

Pretty happy with this now. I was able to eliminate the additional baseplate (green) and band (red) by instead adding some heat serts I had laying around for 3d printing into the flange on the two unused holes. These are only unused because they interfere with the first flange mounting to the truck, but it should be okay.

Added mounting for the chime box connector and the 552 flashers. Have it on the printer now so I can test and make sure everything is going fit tomorrow after work. Hardware I need is en route from mcmcaster for delivery tomorrow as well.

Took a while to get my printed parts and adapter in the mail. Had SendCutSend laser and tap the adapter plate out of Aluminum and then had Craftcloud SLS print the other parts in Nylon 11 for some good flexibility/toughness that I wouldn't get from FDM printing.

All mounted up it looks quite nice! But I didn't realize there wouldn't be space for the buzzer as planned. Not a huge deal I'll zip tie it somewhere. Even with the whole interior disassembled it's a gigantic PITA to get the harness in around the pedal assembly. But Looks pretty neat and most importantly doesn't have all the black goo anymore.

I then took a couple week break or so to do some work on the house. Not fun but necessary. Finally tonight I was able to get most of the interior reassembled.

Few more things to finish up the interior, but then it will be time to throw the engine back in and get this thing reassembled for real!
