Parking Brake, not working properly?

Hey everyone. I had a question about the parking brake in my Comanche. When I go to press on the brake, it does not make a clicking sound while being depressed, and when I lift my foot of it springs back up. I do although see the small red brake light when the pedal is depressed. Does anyone know what may be wrong??

Sounds like the spring on the pawl that engages the ratchet is not working anymore. Here's the spring you are looking for:

I have the same issue. It always worked fine until a couple of months ago when I was working on the fuse box I must have bumped it, because it stopped working. I will be replacing the back cables this weekend and will look at it. I will report back if I figure it out.

That spring is about $4 at the dealer, p/n 8350 4860.

Yep, The spring was missing. I think I'll be able to fab a new one and get it workign properly. Thanks again!
