Brake light issue

The video I posted was the best I could do with the clutch pedal in the way. I could pull it apart tonight and get better pics if that would help.

I may take you up on that. I need to money under and look at mine. It seems mine may not be on right. I really don’t know what right looks like though.

I will get some pictures tonight.

Just take a look at your switch and make sure it is moving as it should. It does look like you might be missing a few pieces. Maybe the bushings and spacers?

I will do that. Thank you.

Ok so I took out the switch and got it the right way I think. When I plug everything back in the brake lights are on all the time. It’s a pretty tight fit so I can’t really tell if the spring is moving or not. Not sure if it’s a wiring issue or that switch

Everything should be loose. It seems like something is not quite right. Check to see if the switch works while removed from the pedal.

I did. I managed to break it 🤦🏻‍♂️ I have another on order. What a pain in the neck.

Are those that hard to install? I could hardly get the bolt holes to line up with the switch without basically compressing that spring.

It should be easy to install. I had an issue with a replacement booster in my Eagle where the eyelet of the rod had too much material on it not letting me install the switch. Maybe some thing like that is happening.

I will get pics tomorrow. I just ran out of time today.

Here are some pics of what parts should be on your brake light switch.

Everything together but removed from the pedal.150963482_IMG_20241107_1642326682.jpg.3ef43023a79ce3a96fec7d2895fede8f.jpg

All the parts. Left to right: Nut, plastic spacer, booster rod bushing, steel switch bushing, plastic spacer, bolt.IMG_20241107_163549782.jpg.a663382ae4da7d6b54e1dbb20a0fe0f5.jpg

All together without the switch.921393346_IMG_20241107_1636027342.jpg.07dc7d5bf7f697622589de2805d45654.jpg

The booster rod bushing goes over the steel bushing and there should be 1/32 inch of clearance between the OD of the steel bushing and the ID of the booster rod bushing. This clearance is what actuates the switch.

Steel bushing and spacers on the switch. The bushing should be snug in the holes of the switch.917726722_IMG_20241107_1632126512.jpg.7a0c653ceafd8bd7f8331d1832b9902d.jpg

@Whitaker717Hopefully this helps with how it is supposed to go together and what parts should be there.

Thank you Eagle_SX4! I got my new switch today and with your instructions I was able to get it working correctly. I was trying to directly bolt it to the brake pedal. Like putting the switch on the actual pedal. Took me a minute to realize it actually staggers the booster rod and bolts to the pedal. Whoever installed my cruise had the switch on wrong. It is working like a champ now. Thanks again man!!
