M.T.Hands
got a pair of vent windows, and well, the drivers side is very loose, will open but it will not "stay put" upon disassembly I found that the part that goes into the bottom of the window appear to be "rusted away" I believe I can fab a suitable replacement/repair, but the spring/shaft is riveted to the bottom part of the frame, wonder if anyone has ever "rebuilt" any of these vent windows??? considering, cutting/drilling the rivets out and making a replacement shaft, and riveting the hardware back on, thought's??? I will post a pic or two tomorrow
pizzaman09
Sounds doable. I have vent windows do like them, but would not go out of my way to replace perfectly good fixed windows that are quiter and do not leak.
M.T.Hands
Yeah the leaking is a consideration, the noise is not so much of an issue for me cause if it's nice enough out I'll be windows down anyway, I got the window that is/was so sloppy apart today, I'll take some pics in the morning, but it appears the "stud" that runs up through the window frame has rusted to a point of failing/compromised, I've got use of a lathe and a mill so I believe I'll be able to duplicate the failed part close enough for functionality, the next project after I get the doors/windows like I'd like will be adding rear disk from a liberty, I've got to investigate that a little further and find out best year to look at/for, then swap the ax5 out for a ax15, just piddling really and something to do

pizzaman09
Nicely done! I always appreciate a good machining project. Looks like you started the logical way with a hex bolt and machined it to fit.
M.T.Hands
Exactly what I did, once I got home with it I did have to do a little grinding, and I appreciate it
Salvagedcircuit
Nice job! Sometimes you can revive a threaded bolt with a die / thread chaser, but if the threads are too far gone, replacement is your answer. 10/10 good work.
