dunl
If I bought a 94 Cherokee for parts to use in my 2wd Comanche, what all could I use out of it? Basically everything except the suspension unless I mod the perches on the rear right?
Pete M
What engines/transmissions are we talking about here with the 2 Jeeps? Year of your truck?
dunl
What engines/transmissions are we talking about here with the 2 Jeeps? Year of your truck? I have 2.5 engine in the 88 Comanche, and there is a 4.0 in the Cherokee. I already have a spare AX-15 and 231 sitting around as well. The 2.5 in the Comanche isn't a problem, as it's from a 93 or 94 YJ, so it runs really strong.
Pete M
How much of a project are you looking for? You can't swap much in the way of individual parts in the drivetrain (2.5 and 4.0 don't share trannys and the t-cases should have different input spline counts), but you could swap over the entire thing including engine wiring harness and dash. dunl
Mainly what I was looking for was the 4wd. As for the 2.5 to the AX-15, I was searching for a Dakota bellhousing for that project. Might just do that in the Willys anyway.
Pete M
Got it. Well, if you're just looking for a front axle, I personally wouldn't buy that particular Jeep. The gear ratio is only 3.55 if it's an auto and 3.07 if it's a stick. I'd keep looking for a 4.10 gear set if the 2.5L is to be retained.

dunl
Mine's a 5 speed. :)
JeepcoMJ
Mine's a 5 speed. :) and therefore 4.10's you can't swap anything but the front axle. and to do that, you'd need the xj calipers and brakes since the unit bearings (hub, wheel bearing) changed. dunl
Hmmm....too bad. Might be a running drivetrain for my Willys though, but it'd be better to find a YJ with 4.10 stock axles....
