Instrument Cluster

Hi everyone I have an 88 2.5l comanche and I’m having an issue with the fuse popping for the instrument cluster. I replaced the fuse turned the lights on and it popped.  Has anyone else had this issue and knows how to resolve?

Something is shorted to ground. That would be my first thought.

That happened to me when the dimmer rheostat in the headlight switch snapped and shorted to the dash frame. 
 

 

are you blowing the 10a park light fuse, or the 5a instrument light fuse?

 

if it’s the 10a, start looking for a short in your headlight switch, or directionals and rear lights.

 

if its the 5a, something in the dash lighting is probably shorted.

It’s the 5a fuse that keeps popping. I’ll have to pull everything apart this weekend and see if I can see anything back there that could be causing the short.

I replaced the headlight switch and it fixed my problem
