whowey
I did a couple of dash upgrades today. I love the classic look of wood, and this a hint of where my Comanche project will go when it finally gets to the front of the line. Time total: 25 minutes Tools: Phillips Screwdriver, scissors, alcohol wipes, Window cleaner Before: After: The brushed aluminum overlay came from www.custombezels.com I bought it off E-bay, along with the woody dash. Total price: about $
Xacto
Nicely done, looks great. Is the dash a brand new piece or did you use vinyl on the existing part?
87manche
that looks like a dash that came out of a waggy. You gonna do a waggy front end? I think that would look sweet on an MJ. I like the quad lights.
whowey
The dash is out of a 90ish cherokee, the guy I got it from wasn't real clear. Eventually, the plan is to take a Cherokee limited interior, graft it in. And a Waggy front end and a wood side kit from BJ's and make a Comanche Wagoneer. I love the classic lines of a woody. (grew up in the 70's, folks had a Country Squire) But Quad headlights are a must.
Eagle
DON'T DO THE QUAD LIGHTS! Those XJ Wagoneer quads are an oddball lamp that's hard to find. Worse, though, is that they put out woefully little light, and there's no upgrade path for them because they don't fit enough vehicles to make a halogen replacement light effective for the vendor. Do an older rectangular headlamp Waggy nose if you have to go the Waggy route. Personally, if I were going to change the nose on a Comanche I'd update to the new Cherokee (97+) look. The lamp part numbers are Wagner H4703(low beam) and Wagner H4701(high beam) both on the shelf of my local O'Riellys Auto Parts. GE,Delco,Silvania all use the part number. Here is a method to put in a SilverStar bulb: http://www.fullthrottlev6.com/forums/ar ... -3585.html That would also work with a the same type of Cool Blue bulb. Someone has already swapped the 97+ front on an MJ, I like to do things differently.
Bounty Hunter
I sold a similar woodgrain dash overlay like that on Ebay, came out of a '93 XJ Country.
