OK got it home, now HELP! please :)

Recommended Posts

Well my new baby is home, and I'm scared to death. Absolutely nothing is hooked up at all on it!!! Most of the parts from under the hood are in the bed! OK...I could use a little help, if any of you have ANY pics at all showing wiring etc. under the hood it would be of great help.

The guy had 2 88s, one was a 6 cyl auto, 2wd, and now this one is a 4 cyl 4spd with a 4wd drivetrain and suspension, for the most part. The entire under-hood wiring harness was just laying on top of the engine in a pile. You can imagine the headache trying to figure out what goes where, not to mention everything under the dash is unplugged and most of the components from in there are also in the back of the truck!

Anyway thanks in advance for ANY help you can possibly give :)

a factory service manual is going to be your best friend. I've found that haynes wiring diagrams are pretty worthless, but the pictures are golden.

an 88 you say.

PM sent.

along the lines of the factory manuals you can get em on ebay all the time. just you have to bid fight over them it seems because i still don't have one yet. :(

I made some electrical repairs on my comanche 1988 in Argentina. Some parts of the wiring were not ok, as in your case. I used ww.alldatadiy.com

You have wirings there and some diagnosis procedures to solve problems

Hope it helps. Fernando

The factory electrical troubleshooting manual is what you need.

It has the colors of the wires, plus diagrams of the connectors.

They are about 80 fold out pages, and list everything.

You can find them on E-bay, for between 30-40 bucks.

I will add the MR number(the number of the manual), so you can find one on E-bay.

I have replaced the entire harness in a Cherokee and my Comanche, and this manual speeds the process so much its not even funny.
