Bucket seats - parts and measurements

Recommended Posts

I want to replace the bench in my comanche with some aftermarket buckets.

I see some conflicting information on whether the bench floor brackets can be used for the buckets. What parts will I have to pull from an XJ vs buy aftermarket? Since I am not using XJ seats, can I use generic aftermarket sliders instead of pulling sliders from an XJ or is that just making more work for myself to adapt to the floor brackets? I assume I will ultimately have to get some tube and angle and make brackets for some of the pieces, and I'd rather buy new parts than refinish junkyard parts if possible.

Also, if anyone has buckets and a center console from an xj, I would very much appreciate a measurement of the width of the bottom cushion of the seats you are using to aid me in my search for aftermarket seats that will fit!

You need xj sliding tracks, and the brackets off your mj bench seat you then have to drill out the rivets that hold the brackets to each and mount the mj brackets to the xj sliders, then just use factory 84-94 seats with no problem whatsoever

Of corse if you using aftermarket buckets, I see no problem in being able to mount mj brackets to the aftermarket mounts, you could always drill new holes in your floor to mount a different style bracket as well

If you do the MJ/ XJ parts swap, I would be interested in buying your old MJ slider rails. My passenger bench seat slider is

missing the roller bearings and clips making the seat wobble and hard to adjust. The seat came this way when I got the truck which is odd as you have to disassemble the slider rail to remove them.
