What’s the interchangeability for AMC 150 (2.5L) valve covers? I have an ’87 with the thermoplastic cover and, if possible, I’d like to find an aluminum one to replace it with. It’s leaking and it seems likely the cover will crack or break when I pull it to change the gasket. Did Chrysler continue building this engine design for a number of years? I’d imagine the best donors (other than Cherokees & Comanches of course) would be Wranglers and perhaps the Dakota?

I've been looking into this one as well. IIRC, there are a few companies that make the aluminum covers, but as far as I last checked, they were pretty spendy.

All the MPFI 2.5's have aluminum covers XJ's, YJ's and Dakotas had them i picked mine up for $20 on ebay. the CCV tubes are a bit different but its easy to make work, and no more leaks!

Thanks for the info. I figured there was a point where Chrysler would have switched to the OHC 2.5 (stroked 2.2) in these since that was ominpresent in the late 80s/early 90s. Good to know they carried the AMC design until nearly the end...it will make finding a valve cover much easier.

I scored my 2.5 valve cover off a 94 YJ off ebay for 15 bucks. Best thing I ever did to my 89. Now i need to replace the distributor base gasket and my leaks should be history.
