ball joints?

Recommended Posts

You might be able to get the old ones out with out a tool... that's a BIG MIGHT, but you would destroy the new ones beating them in...

Don't be a tool....go get the proper tools. :D :brows: :D

Seriously though, its much easier with the proper ball joint press. I have done this job dozens of times. I have done a couple with the cheapie Harbor freight tool, not great, but it worked. It flexes too much and much of your "power" is lost in the twisting.

Some parts places "rent" for free aft leaving a returnable deposit.

A buddie found a older, Snap-on press at a yard sale for 20 bucks, I gave him 40!!! Now its in MY BOX jamminz.gifjamminz.gif

good luck,

I've used the Harbor Freight one for the sets I've had to do. I haven't had any problems with it flexing or twisting. Its a pretty hefty chunk of cast whatever metal they use......

If I could find a good used one from one of the big tool companies, the HF unit would find itself a new home in the Jeep, or the tool box in the truck.

A bunch of those are the same as the HF unit.

The few that are better, its the wrong season for that.

4 kids, a minivan payment, and that fat red coated SOB on his way.....
