Anthi4078
Hey I was at the junkyard this weekend and found a what I believe to be 84 2dr XJ with a tilt wheel, cruise and intermittent wipers. I’m thinking about going back and grabbing the whole thing including maybe the steering box since mine is popping. I’m wondering if it will all bolt right in and if the intermittent wipers and module will plug into my current harness. Also I’m wondering how much of the cruise control system will work on mine since I have a 4.0 and this has some 4cyl. Thanks, Andre
eaglescout526
The column will drop in just fine. It is recommended that it gets rebuilt especially since it’s almost 40 years old. As for cruise, most will work except the servo. I have some 4.0 servos if you want to do a trade. Oh and can I get a pic of the engine bay before you rip out the cruise. I want to know how they added it in 1984.

I’d be willing to trade and I’ll be sure to grab a few pictures before I take stuff out. It will probably be this weekend I’ll be going again. Is there any areas in specific you want pictures of? eaglescout526
Just the whole engine bay really. I’ve always wanted to know how AMC and or dealers added cruise to the 2.5L and I know where I have the servo on my truck isn’t where they mounted it at the factory. Anthi4078
Ok, will do. One last thing I’m wondering is if I need to bring any special/ specific tools other than a socket set. I know when I went to get the 4wd stuff I found out the transmission has two inverted torx bolts for whatever reason but luckily one of the sockets was able to grab it enough to get them out. eaglescout526
I can’t think of anything. Should just be mostly 15mm stuff. But sockets will do. Anything else special about this 84? Also the A-pillars are a grab as they are special for that year.

I didn’t really notice anything special, I was just looking for features my truck didn’t come with.
eaglescout526
Ahhh ok. I’m curious what all it has. I can only think of the A-pillars being worth a grab right now, depending on how loaded it is I might tack on more.
