Manche1
So my truck is a base model and did not have the upgraded door speakers or rear speaker brackets. I was able to source some brackets, but I had to be a little creative with the fronts. Since the under dash speaker grates are really designed for tweeters, I found that a pair of 3.5" speakers work well along with the 4x6 in the back. My goal was not heart thumping base, but rather just get enough sound in the cab without major modifications. I took some scrap hardwood I had and JB welded them to the back of the lower knee panel. I then screwed the speakers into the hardwood. They fit perfectly and now I have a decent setup. I went with a Kenwood digital receiver, Kenwood 3.5" speakers and Kicker 4x6 speakers. Sounds pretty good.
Manche1
...and by the way, even the base truck is completely wired for 4 speakers. I used the factory plugs and adapters supplied by Crutchfield. Super simple installation.
eaglescout526
I did what you did but with factory tweeters. I notice a difference with the factory tweeters in place than the 4 speaker setup.
