Bugout 1
Came across these at a really good price and thought they might give the MJ a cool old school look. I'm keeping the MJ more mild and factory and thought these would pair nicely witht he white steel wheels. I remember my brother had a set on his Mazda (Ford ranger look alike) back in the day. gogmorgo
They do look cool. Small red flag for me is they only seem to be available from oddball discount places. Firestone themselves don’t even list them on their website. This doesn’t mean they’ll be junk, just probably they won’t perform as well as one that’s actively promoted by the manufacturer. And those four small patches of rubber are the only things keeping you on the road or trail. I’d also not be super keen due to the lack of the 3pms rating, but that’s more of a concern in my particular area than in most people’s. But they do look cool, and absolutely would look good on an MJ. And I won’t lie that 50% of the reason I choose the tires I do is because of the way they look. Pete M
I like it a suggestion to anyone buying tire, but especially those picking tires based on looks... get 5. having a matching 5th (rotated in properly of course) can come in handy when one dies from road debris or a curb in 2 years and that particular tread pattern doesn't exist anymore. Yea I was worried about the quality for the same reasons, as far as performace I not to worried. The MJ will be a weekend driver to Lowes or maybe the hunting land when weather is good. The tires will probably get old before they wear out. 12 hours ago, Pete M said: I like it a suggestion to anyone buying tire, but especially those picking tires based on looks... get 5. having a matching 5th (rotated in properly of course) can come in handy when one dies from road debris or a curb in 2 years and that particular tread pattern doesn't exist anymore. My last LJ picked up a bolt in a tire and I ended up having to get 4 new tires becauses the spare was a 33 and the running tires were 35's so I agree, my current LJ i have all matching tires including the spare.
