3 link for the rear bought part list

Ok guys I am not a master fabricator so I have been doing some thinking (this could be bad) and digging around on the net and there is a bunch of premade stuff out there to do a 3 link with a panhard. So I thought I would put my thought down and see what you guys think and maybe some one could add or tell me what I should do different.

First off trail-gear makes a 3 link for a Toyota I think I could make it work on a MJ. So that is the first link.

Now for my coil spring I was thinking some thing like this

For the lower part to the keep them to the axle

As for the coil spring perches, look at the Ballistic Fabrication 4 in 1 spring, shock, track bar and control arm mount. They're $40 each, but you're getting everything all in one. Even if you didn't use the shock mount, as it is designed for a front axle, incorporating everything into one strong bracket wouldn't be a bad idea.

I have been planning a 4 link for the rear probably next winters project. For spring mounts I plan on cutting off some from a XJ or a MJ axle and cutting off the upper mounts the front uses. Stock XJ or MJ springs should be about right. For joints the 3" Ballistic Fab flex joints with 1.25" studs are planned and some 2.5" studded flex joints would be used. I'll cut my own mounts for the control arms and build it all myself. I like to fab as much as I like to wheel. I take pride in building it myself.

 

Your plan seems like a good one. The 3 link should work well. I'm relocating my fuel tank so I'll have room for a 4 link double triangulated setup.

O I would love to build my own stuff but I don't have the shop,tools or skills to do it. So that is why I am leaning this way.

Right there w/ you TNT. Nothin like getting in the shop, firing up the welders and plasma and goin to town. Now if only I could quit blowin my money on everything else, and get my front 4-link fabbed up and bolted in!

I blew my warranteed motor and they're paying me to put the new motor in, so I'm using that money to do my links in the spring.

I wouldn't by a Yota specific link set-up with the frame dimensions being So different.

Thanks for the info I see that I am not the only one that has thought about buying all the parts that are need to build a 3 link. I do really like the lower link and coil mounts I think it would keep it simple. I have a D60 for the rear that I am thinking about shaving I no over kill but I think that is what I am after. I want to run something like 36 to 38 locked front and rear. Again this may never happen this is what happens when the weather gets could and I can’t play with my truck.
