A few questions about my new / first MJ

I just bought my first Comanche and being new to the truck I have a few questions about things I have noticed. To start off, on the rear diff pumpkin there is this strip of metal that looks like it would be a ground to something which is strange considering that its on the diff. There is also a couple plugs under the dash that aren't plugged into anything and appear to have nothing to plug into. Lastly, I have always wondered what the black square is for that sits Infront of the interior door handles on 84-96 XJ's and MJ's. (photos below)

-Diff identification tag

-Theres going to be loose connectors all over. Easier to have cars wired for everything and not need it versus having to wire in options

-Power window block off I believe
