Bacon
everybody! stop what your doing right now and go check your front end for any signs of rust/rot. this is/was the passenger side coil bucket/track bar mount on my 97 ZJ. that's right. only 10 years old. happened last tuesday night while my gf was on her way home from work. ended up in the ditch on the wrong side of the road! luckily she knew enough to slow down when it start shaking and banging. she was not hurt thank god. i had no idea it was even getting bad. rockhardzj
I don't think the coil is supposed to be mounted like that... joking aside, glad to hear she is unharmed. at least thats a fairly easy fix. I can cut the coil buckets off my spare d30 axle if you want them, cost would be $5 each for the labor and sawzall blades plus shipping. they are practically brand new looking with a few spots of light surface rust. 89MJComanche
I have seen that happen before. My 1987 MJ had a bad spring perch on one side. Not that bad, but it can happen. I just wonder what the rest of that ZJ looked like that was shown in the photos. There are probably holes in the floor big enough to slide a coffee can thorough. Bacon
nope. the undercarriage is rust free. i have small small bubbles of surface rust just starting on the body about the size of a quarter. this is why i was so amazed this happened. the rest of the jeep is actually in very good condition for an 11 year old vehicle from the maritimes.
