acfortier
As I was taking apart my steering column to fix the turn signal switch, I think the horn contact portion in the cancelling cam exploded on me, and I can't seem to find the spring that was in there. Also looks like buying a new cancelling cam doesn't include the stuff for the horn contact. Would this be proper repair kit? https://www.dormanproducts.com/p-5975-83230.aspx
eaglescout526
I went with that exact repair kit. It works fine. I am not sure if it’s meant for the Jeep steering wheel but it works as it should. You’ll need to install the spring first, then the spacer on the contact shaft, then the shaft into the spring. Thanks! Ordering one now.
eaglescout526
No problem! Oh while you’re in there, clean up the button contact on the turn signal switch itself. That makes a world of a difference when it’s dirty or clean.
acfortier
I had to replace that completely, since the hazards wouldn't stay on, so it's nice and new and shiny
acfortier
Alright, re-assembled and now the horn is constantly on once I put the relay back in. There doesn't seem to be any play with the steering wheel horn section itself (as in, if you push on it, nothing moves--so it seems that it's stuck on?) Not sure what to check-- after I put the spring lock plate back on, I just re-attached the steering wheel as an entire assembly--didn't take apart the 3 screws holding that plastic piece down. acfortier
I'm definitely missing the washer for my steering wheel--not sure where it is. Any idea what size/thickness it is?
eaglescout526
That looks like an early GM/CJ wheel and if the horn is constantly on, did you flip the flex plate the wrong way?
acfortier
I swapped out the steering wheel with a black one that was fully assembled--it's possible if someone took it apart and put it back together? I can take it apart and see.

Rearranged, and all is good now. Thanks!
