Jeepinmanch
I am looking for some info on what was the off road package, I have the skidplates and heavy duty axle (dana 44) anyone know what tranny, and what kind of limited slip was stock in that axle? I am going to be removing all the parts from this 88 chief for a 4x4 swap eventually. :brows:

If it's a 5-speed and a 4.0L the tranny will be a Peugeot BA 10/5. The limited slip is a Dana Trak-Lok.
Jeepinmanch
it has the 4.0 and 5 speed. Front skid plate and gas tank skid plate as well. The rear diff is open from the factory or limited slip?
offroader461
most likley open...but a way to check is jack up the rear and spin 1 of the tires...if the other rear spins opposite you have an open diff..if it spins the same direction you have a limited slip
CWLONGSHOT
Most likely here is what you got: AUTO= AW4 STICK= Puke goat BA-10 Limited slip= Trac-Loc You should also have a gas tank skid as well as tow hooks front and (Some apps) a single rear hook. Eagle
My red '88 4.0L is a Chief. It had the skid plates and tow hooks. It also had an open rear diff -- no Trac-Lok.
Jeepinmanch
The chief has been rolled onto its top and has to much body damage, I can salvage the skid plates and axles for my other Commanches. Good engine, transmission, transfer case the bed is in good enough condition too.

Jeepinmanch
I thought about that but I think the parts can be better served in my other two comanches.
