ratty
Hello. I was swapping out my speedometer cable and accidentally pulled all those colorful vacuum lines out of my transfer case. I put them back in and now I have a light on my cluster that says "part time" and when I make a right turn there is a horrible crunching sound. Is there an order to what color goes where? What did I do?
ratty
Tried my truck in 4H and 4L. Won't go anywhere in 4L and could barely turn around in 2.
87MJTIM
The vacuum hose controls the front axle central disconnect. It shouldn't control shifting the tcase.

Look under the truck to make sure the linkage is hooked up properly and not binding against anything. If it is still won't shift, then the problem is internal. yxmj
Color coded diagram below Connect them correctly and see if you still have a problem

I have no idea how this happened

Is that a possibility? It's the photo I posted.
87MJTIM
I had a problem with mine where the vacuum connector on the front axle no longer held vacuum. It couldn't pull the collar over to engage 4wd. First I performed the CAD bypass to make the vacuum lines unnecessary. Later, I sapped axles to a non-CAD. Problem solved! Sounds like a future project for me.
