Windshield trim

I'm getting ready to send my '87 in for a windshield, and I intend to use the late model seal. I was told the current metal trim is hard to find. Would it be worthwhile for me to remove it myself? How do you remove it without destroying it? What's it worth, if I can save it all?

I used this video when I removed mine, I only broke some of the plastic clips that hold the trim but not the trim itself. Not sure of the value but if you don’t want it I’m sure someone else can get some use out of it.

Yeah  I have this same dilema I want to go full blackout kinda but my tow mirrors and everything is chrome except for my headlight housings and grill. Idk what to do
