bhawkin2
I have a 86 Comanche 2.5L Auto 4x4. My current problem that has me pulling my hair out an going what the @#%$!!!! The engine has no power in Gear, park or Neutral will free Rev. I ran a Compression check it goes as follows Cyl 1-110 Cyl 2-140 Cyl 3-150 Cyl 4-130 I did'nt think that any were way out of range to cause the issue, It does also have a somewhat rough Idle. I have also Changed the following Plugs, Cap, wires, PCV valve, Air Filter, Fuel Filter, Oil an Filter, Rod Bearings, Main Bearings, oil pump. I took the air box apart an checked all the Thermostatic stuff an it all seems to be working. I took the Exhaust lose at the manifold an started it an still nothing. I took the distributor cap off an turned the engine over with a ratchet an the button turns if I move the ratchet about a 1/4 inch (to check timing chain wear). Replaced all the vacuum lines due to the fact they were all dry rotted an split when I got the truck. The only thing I have'nt done is run a fuel pressure check an I have'nt done it because someone stripped the allen head of the bolt out an I have'nt come up with an Idea on how to get it out of the TBI. The truck rolls freely so the brakes aren't hanging up. If anyone could shed some light on the matter please I'm all ears. As you can tell I'm at the end of my rope.

Pete M
Do you still have the cat? A clogged cat can cause power issues. Jeep on! --Pete
CWLONGSHOT
Also check the fuel pump. Not that uncommon, for this to be the pump, causes all kinds of little PITA things... hard starting included. Not fuel = no power!! CW
bhawkin2
I took the exhaust loose at the manifold an tryed to drive it an it still has no power. I have'nt checked fuel preassure cause I can't get the preassure port plug out. I got a Idea how to get it out so I'll try some more tonight an see what happens thanks guys. 87manche
if the torx screw is stripped you might want to try cutting a slot across the top and using a flat screwdriver to get it out.
bhawkin2
Mine is an allen head an its perfectly flush with the TBI. I'm going to try to beat a torx in it an see if it'll get a good enough bite to get it to come out. if that does'nt work I'm going to try to drill it a hole in it an maybe get it out with an easyout. Pounding in a hard torx bit is probably your best bet then.
bhawkin2
Yea I'm hoping it works. Cause I really don't want to drill it out :(
bhawkin2
Figured it out. The vacuum line that goes to the MAP sensor ( the steel line from the TBI to the map) Had crud in it an was plugged I took a coat hanger an some carb cleaner an ran the coat hanger threw it after spraying carb cleaner in it an cleaned it all out. I now have vaccuum to my MAP sensor. My idle is smooth an I have my power back. Thanks for the help guys.

I'm still waiting to install the new one, but I can almost promiss that this was the culprit.
