91' 2.5L Comanche electrical issues

Recommended Posts

Hi!

First time posting here, just bought my truck a few weeks ago and drove quite far to get back home. Bought a radio the other day and had some trouble with installing it (speakers would turn off if the volume went past 16). Then later that day the truck wouldn't start, no click, nada. Jump wasn't working. Had to jump it off the fuse box bolt. Now I realize that the dome fuse keeps getting blown, triggering the door open chime noise to be on constantly when the drivers door is open... its been that way since I bought it. Anyway, thinking of just cleaning or replacing the wire between the battery and fuse box, but there seems to be some other electrical problems/shorts. Does anyone have the electrical book for a 91? I found the 88 one on here and its been super helpful already.

Or just other advice for where to start/common issues. As of now the battery is recharged but still not starting even though I've disconnected the stereo.

if you're new to MJs, this thread is a gold mine of great info.  of key importance is the link to Cruiser's MJ tips.  most deal with the wonky electrical system.  :D
