erobinson923
I'm having some issues with the brakes on my MJ. It started out with a caliper that wouldn't release and the brakes started to get really hot. After replacing the caliper and bleeding the system, I now have no pedal. You can pump it up and it'll start to gain a pedal, but if you release and wait just a few seconds before pushing the pedal again, it goes straight to the floor and the brake light comes on. I read that bleeding the system can cause the master cylinder to go out if it's on it's last leg due to using the full range of motion when it doesn't typically do that under normal use. I replaced it today and still no luck. It's doing the same thing. Could it be a faulty brake booster? 91 MJ, 4.0, 5 speed, 4x4 Thanks in advance! MJCARENA
Do you have the correct side caliper? Is the bleeder on top?
erobinson923
The new caliper is for the wrong side. Bleeder is on bottom. I'll get it swapped tomorrow and see if that fixes it. Thank you!
JustEmptyEveryPocket
And to make sure, you are following the proper MJ bleeding procedure, correct? Read THIS THREAD. Make sure you read all of it, including the last post by Eagle.
erobinson923
Thank you. I'll be sure to follow that procedure tomorrow. The load sensing valve was removed by the previous owner. Not sure how they did it, but I'll dig into that tomorrow when I'm bleeding it.

Not sure how they did it, but I'll dig into that tomorrow when I'm bleeding it. that could be done in a couple different ways. the lazy way is to just T the lines out back and bypass the valve. this retains the second emergency line running to the back and so you'll still need to do the funky MJ bleeding procedure down the road. the more thorough way is to remove that second line and plug the port up front. this would give you the normal bleeding procedure for the back brakes.
