Say I left that on the yj engine harness and got the correct sensors and plugged them to the yj harness that would work? The sensors for oil pressure and coolant temperature are not part of the engine control harness.

You started off insisting that you need an HO cluster, and that you need an XJ HO under=dash harness. Did the YJ have gauges? If so, the engine already has the correct sensors for the gauges. It did have guages. That's why I was seeing if it was plausable to use the yj guages if it would make it easier. And originally I was talking about putting the mj wires into the yj fusebox because I thought the bulkheads we're wired differently but as I assumed I was over thinking the whole situation. I'm just overwhelmed with it. Iv done alot of wiring before but this is my first motor swap that isn't just stock motor. Except when the motor was stoked. But there was whole forums of info on it. It conserned me that noone does this and everyone tried steering me away. And from the looks it's not as complex as everyone made it out to be. Just got in my own head I guess my bad
Eagle
You don't need the YJ gauges. I don't think a YJ cluster will fit the MJ dashboard. Find a gauge cluster from an '84 to '90 Cherokee. Best years are '88 thru '90 because the tachometer in those years could be adjusted for 4-cylinder or 6-cylinder. If you get an earlier cluster, make certain that it's from a 6-cylinder. The early ones will also require a different speedometer cable. You can't just plug the YJ gauges into your existing cluster. The clusters use printed circuits, and there's no way to convert an idiot light cluster to gauges. Just buy an XJ cluster and install it.
Pete M
if you're comfortable doing wiring, and you have the schematics for both rigs, then it seems very plausible that you can do this. the reason why you're seeing suggestions to go with XJ stuff is that, with a donor rig, it all more or less bolts in because the MJ and XJ share bady parts. with the YJ engine stuff, you might find that the wires aren't long enough to reach a spot where you can mount the pcm, or the vacuum lines need to be all custom, or a plethora of other things that are dependent on each particular items position in space inside the YJ bay vs the MJ bay. It could be a HUGE hassle. or it might not. I can't say because I've never seen it done. But that just means you're blazing new trails! There's no reason why it can't work, just reasons why it might be a headache now and again.
Jeeperscreeper
Ok so I have everything stripped down and about to start eliminating stuff. I have a better understanding. But my next question is.... I planned on using the yj ignion setup and eliminating everything there. So can I eliminate everything off the mj body harness after the lights. I would just have to run a new constant for the lights to the small engine fuse block on the yj engine harness right? And keep the blower motor wiring

Finally figuring it out and was just trying to figure out why my radio stopped working on day. Burned up. Glad I caught it. This harness is so thrashed and hacked up I'm better of. Why o was trying to us the yj one....but ill bite the bullet. And prolly just grab a under hood harness too. Might as well.....

Jeeperscreeper
Ok got everything mostly figured out till I thought of something. I removed the mjs relay block and ignition system and put in the yjs block and ignition system for a better and cleaner look. Picture below is of the yjs diagram. I just need to connect the relay to the pump.(orange and black)and all should be good correct?
