Pete M
so I'm working on my 2000 Dakota R/T and it has the same issue as MJs with the dying clearcoat. since my hood is screwed up in more ways than one, I figured this was a great time to experiment with the paint. So far I've taken a flat razor blade to the, um, "more textured" areas that buffer between good clearcoat and no clearcoat (most of the hood is this middle stuff), and then wet-sanded with 1500 grit and things are way smoother than they were before. not perfect mind you, but better. then I tried a liquid rubbing compound and a powered buffer and the clearcoated areas look pretty good, but the rest of it doesn't really look any better. Is there a step I'm missing? a step I should be doing for a longer period of time? is all of this just a fool's folly? as I said, this hood will never look new, I'm just hoping for an improvement. Jeep Driver
A quart of clear with activator is about $40........you already had it wet sanded. Just shoot it.
Pete M
I will be doing that for the MJ. I'm playing around with the Dak just to see what can be done if anything. In the end it'll be up for sale and the next owner can figure out what to do long-term.
