TurboLJ
Hi all, I recently bought a1989 Comanche 2wd. It is a 4.0 with the BA10 trans. Today I bought a 1996 Cherokee with a messed up motor. I’m wanting to use the XJ parts to convert my Comanche to 4wd. I know I will get the front axle, transmission, transfer case, front drive shaft, shifter linkage. I’m wondering what else I will need from the Cherokee. Thanks
Limeyjeeper
You will need a rear driveshaft. The 2WD and 4WD driveshafts are not the same length. 2WD is about 10" longer. Cherokee driveshafts are much shorter. Is the cherokee Manual or Auto? If Auto then that will add a lot of complication. You will need the crossmember and trans mount. plus the trans controller, harness etc etc. Not an easy swap.
