MJohnny
Can you remove the cylinder head from the 4.0 w/o removing the valves etc.
Eagle
Yes, the valves are in the head. As long as you don't remove the valve keys ("keepers"), when you remove the head everything stays together.
zjrog
Since I recently replaced a headgasket on my ZJ 4.0, yes. Just take the rocker arms off and pull the pushrods. Um, not to be insulting here, but DO keep them in order as you remove them. Also doesn't hurt to spray brake cleaner down the pushords after you pull them, just in case they have sludge in them. Don't forget to apply some oil to the ends of the rods and the tops of the orckers before closing things up. Don't want any dry metal touching... :brows:
Geonovast
You don't have to pull the rocker arms, that's way too much work. Just unbolt the head and pull it off, leave the push rods sitting in the block. When you put it back on, just have someone line them up when you set the head on it.
