XjmjRyan Posted September 8, 2018 Posted September 8, 2018 I have a 1989 Jeep Comanche with the 4.0L auto trans and horrible Dana 35 rear axle. I’m planning on swapping it with a Dana 44 I have from a donar Cherokee I have, which also have a factory np231. Any suggestions or advice befor I begin? And will I need an adapter for the nptransfer case to the auto trans?
Jeep Driver Posted September 8, 2018 Posted September 8, 2018 If you have a 2W MJ now you'll need the entire transmission from the XJ.........no adapter.
bad_idea Posted September 8, 2018 Posted September 8, 2018 The axle is not going to be a bolt in. MJ is a SUA while the XJ is a SOA. Spacing is also different on the perches.
