I'm new here. 4.0 swap question

Hey guys,

Just bought my first Jeep. Its an 89 comanche with the 4.0 5 speed manual. My question is will an xj motor be a direct swap. My mj has 179000 miles and i want to start rebuilding a replacement motor and have it ready.

What year is the XJ?  Yours is (probably) a Renix engine.  91+ XJs have HO engines.  The engines will swap over, but you will/may need to swap all the electronics from the XJ.

I meant will a 4.0 from the same year xj (89') bolt up to my comanche.

89 for 89 is a direct swap.  Just pull one engine for the other. P-N-P.
