Renix metric-to-SAE oil filter: stripped nipple...options?

I got excited and stripped the Renix oil filter nipple.  

 

Instead of just changing the nipple, would I be able to convert over to the HO (sideways) oil filter setup as in this link: http://www.fourwheeler.com/how-to/5421/ ?
