Bench seat padding

Any tips on how to restore the padding on the bench seat? Finally got the bottom cover off. Rings were rusted badly but think some longer staple gun staples will do the trick. Would just like to get the foam a little stiffer/thicker.

When my seat was re-covered, the upholstery shop placed a carpet tile between the bottom seat springs and the foam padding to give the seat back some firmness. The material they used also had a foam backing to it.

 

I am happy with it. The depression where my butt goes is gone.

Don’t try to use staples, they’ll eventually pull out.  You can get hog ring pliers at Harbor Freight for a few bucks and do the job so it will last.
