How was the ujoint while you were in there?

 

Also the balljoints will wear uneven often, they're loosest at the center point since they spend most of their time there.

 

Those complete axleshaft are actually CV shafts, I believe.  (Checked Rockauto, the cheapest ones are $28 and $34, so $62 CANADIAN, or like $45 US for both sides )

honestly..... didn't check it and I knew I should have while I was there. Was interrupted several times and plain forgot. Would it produce the same noise as a bad wheel bearing?
