A/C Part Question

I am installing a new dryer on my 1990 Comanche and there are two spring loaded plungers in the dryer connection.

 

Do I need them and will the system work without them?

I'm sure someone else will chime in.. But I can't imagine that the plungers would be on the receiver drier and them not be necessary for its operation.

most new dryers don't use them. They use internal baffles on 134 and newer.
