Dzimm
So I came across a decent xj on Craigslist. The guy wants $800 for a 97' with a set of 33" and 31" tires, a spare 94' aw4 and t-case, and some good center caps for my Eliminator wheels. The xj needs a little work and is pretty rusty but what has me worried is that to fit the 33" tires, he just cut the fenders back. Front and rear.... So the pinch seam no longer exists in the rear. It is only about a 1/16" gap on the inner and outer fender so I could weld it up but I'm wondering if there is lasting affects of not having that pinch weld and if it's OK to drive for a little while with the gap.. Hypoid
I would not drive it that way. One thing I have seen in different build threads is people using 1/4-inch steel rod to join the wheel well to the quarter panel. http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/jeep-cherokee/885939-t-t-project-low-wagon.html
Dzimm
Well I've got no choice but to drive it to my house and then to where I'm gonna be welding it.. Do you think it'll screw the body up pretty bad to drive it cautiously until I weld it?
FrankTheDog
It'll be fine if just driving home and to weld shop.
