I work at the local utility company here in San Antonio and am an operator at one of the power stations here. We've got a total of 10 generators on this site.

4 LM6000's

2 on 1 combined cycle

3 conventional gas units from the 60's

I'm not an operator but I've worked on a few co-gens and 1 hydro turbine. gassers are fun but I want to do a few more hydros. the last 6 years I've mostly been at oil refinerys working recip compressors. here I learned of boom deflection a little later pulling the pickel of a 285 mega watt generator about 7 years ago

All peaker gas turbine generators, right.

The LM 6000's are our peaking units, yes. 50MW's each.

Our conventional units produce 225, 225 and 440 respectively.

The combine cycle is approx 460MW's maxed out.

It's definitely a fun job. I consider my fortunate to have stumbled into it.
