R1.
Last week we flew down to Phoenix Az to pick up the 89 Pioneer. Thanks for all the help on what to lookout for. All in all it's a great truck, with a little surface rust and that Arizona sun fade paint. It drove like a champ over 1300 miles to get it home. Now I have a lot of projects. Here is a picture of the rear axle. It is out of a Cherokee so the spring mounts are wrong. Notice how the leafs are splayed out and the shackles twisted. I don't know how he got them in, but I will have to fix it. I can keep it over slung, right? Also, the shock mounts are wrong. I was wondering about that. Whether I should weld a frame mount in front of the axle or change the mount on the axle. Any tips for me on this? So far so good. I had fair warning that I would get hooked, so you can say I told you so.
desbennett004
I bought spring perches and shock mounts from eBay. Just figure out what lift you want before welding the perches on, so you can get your pinion angle right the first time. DansGreyMj
Your best bet is to cut everything off of the axle and start fresh. Barnes4wd sells complete perch setups for around $100. Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk

Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk I do believe you are right. If I move the spring perches in, they will be too close to the shock mounts. Can anyone tell me the measurements of where everything goes on the axle? I found how to get the proper pinion angle online.
