What about using some lag bolts through the mounting holes to secure a 2x4 in between the brackets? Or you could also just temporary tack a piece of angle between them to be ground off by the end user... Or, more complicated yet, take a piece of 1" angle iron, quick tack some nuts to the inside at the ends, and thread a bolt into it from each end to hold in transport...

Boxing that hitch would be a pain in the @$$. I see that when you tape the bolts on they are on an "exposed" area easily contacted when slid around. I would tape the bulge so it sits next to one of the side plates on the inside.

That's exactly what I did with the bumper I just shipped. Lag bolted a 2x4 in there. Then wrapped it. I'm just going to screw a 4x4 to a wooden box lid and then use metal pipe hanger and run it over her main tube of the hitch and screw it to the lid. (Got all wood for free)

Same over all dimensions as bare hitch. Just adds like 40 pounds. So shipping automatically gets more expensive

That is one heck of a pallet! :)

The way it is pictured, how long is it?

It's actually a lid to a crate that elevator motors come in...

Ita 50ish"x24ish"

Hopefully it meets UPS's standards on proper packaging...

To fully enclose it, the weight would be too high and shipping rates would go up 4-6 times what they are now/were.

Just for S&G's, this is how the bumper arrived today. Didn't get a picture but on the bottom side there was some scuff damage as well.

But all was well. I believe the 2x4 in the middle really protected it!

I'm excited to see this thing painted and mounted and in use!
