grinch
Long story short the previous owner put a light bar on my MJ and I'm considering removing it. I don't really use it and it makes a lot of annoying vibrating sounds at highway speeds. Anyway, I'm looking at the mounting brackets and I see these screws: I'm assuming these are some sort of security screws or something but I don't know. I'm trying to look up in the little holes to determine a thread pattern but can't tell. Any ideas on how to get these buggers out? Strokermjcomanche
Those are rivets , you need to drill the heads off .
desbennett004
^^^ yup, just drill through them with a small drill bit, they will come right out. I've heard putting a bit of black silicone in the top of the fins on the back of the light bar helps to stop the noise and vibrations. Don't have first hand experience of that though, but might be worth a try? Sent from my SM-N900W8 using Tapatalk
grinch
I figured it would be something simple like that, herp derp, thanks guys! And yeah I've tried putting gorilla tape around the fins and it definitely helped with the lower speed noise, but it still makes noises at higher speeds. Blue88Comanche
The position it's mounted on the a pillar makes a difference as well. Mine is mounted just below the roof level, where as my brothers it mounted slightly higher. His whistles, mine doesn't. But mine does have slightly more wind noise above 45.
