AMC86Kid
hi guys i was wondering if anyone could take a pic of there Throttle and Down Shift cable wire bracket my 86 MJ did not have one and the only replacement that i could find was from a XJ the XJ bracket has two square holes (one on the left and one on the right) it appears that the MJ had one round hole on the left and a square hole on the right my gas cable pops in and works fine but as you can see my tranny cable is just hanging there because it does not fit in the hole i was hoping that after i see a MJ one i could modify mine to to work like a MJ one Thanks
Eagle
The XJ and the MJ were mechanically identical.

yxmj
Unless you are trying to use one from a 4.0 or 2.5....they will not work on the V6
AMC86Kid
ok so my engine is a 3.4 L32 The MJ in 86 came with a 2.8 LR2 both of these engines are the same the only difference is the 3.4 is just bigger so i got the cable bracket off of a 2.8 Xj because i had no bracket i inserted the gas cable and it hooked up and works no problem this is the right hole on the bracket now on the left side of the bracket my tranny cable will not fit in the insert because the cable is bigger then the hole in the bracket so thats why i wanted to see if some one could take a pic of theres so i can see how it looks on a 2.8 MJ then i will simply modify mine to look like theres or possible get a XJ tranny cable
