Doc.
So it may be a dumb question. When you turn the key on what lights should light up before hitting the starter? I assume at least the oil light and temp light should light up as kind of a system check. Shouldn't they? Am I thinking wrong? In my case non come on. I did pull and test the bulbs that are in the cluster. The bulbs work fine. I assume I have an issue, any thoughts? This is on an 87 MJ, 4.0, auto, 4x4, with idiot lights. 87MJTIM
I've owned mine for 29 years. Honestly, I stopped paying attention to that about 28 years ago. Sorry.
Ωhm
Secret is in the ignition switch. Ign Sw should have one or two circuits labeled G1 and G2. One of those is connected to the instrument panel (certain bulbs only) and grounded at the Ign Sw when key is turned to START. This is called bulb check. Circuit is NOT covered within the wiring diagrams. I hate it when they do that.
