SBpunk
So am I going to have to get my gears set up again? Pulled the carrier out to clean up the axle and this piece is new to me. The adjuster ring and I'm guessing it doesn't just go back into place
DirtyComanche
Yeah, kinda. If you can see the pattern on the gears you can just adjust so the pattern is the same. I would then verify that backlash is still in spec, you only need a cheap dial indicator and magnetic base to do it. If you can't tell the pattern you're kinda screwed. Adjust to the best pattern with backlash in spec and run it to see if it is quiet or not, it may be fine or you may have to do trial and error changes from there to get it quiet. If the shop that set it up recorded what the backlash was set to you can just return it to that also.

airspeed
Your pinion is already set, it's not that hard to set the backlash on the carrier, those adjuster rings make it fairly easy. I had never worked on a rear diff. before and I got it right the first time. You will need some machinist bluing or gear paste to see the pattern. BabySpinach
This is pretty easy to fix with a few basic tools. You'll need some gear marking compound, locktite, a 25 dollar dial indicator, and several half inch extensions and a socket nut that will fit into the adjuster hole. Here's the extension tool I made, along with the dial indicator:
