87manche
Just got my Warn skid installed. what an Uber PITA! The PO had welded the stock POS skid to the trans crossmember and the frame. I had to grind off the weld along the edge and where they had welded it to the remains of the bolts. There was one I couldn't get to on the back with the grinder, so I just used my floor jack to lever it up and some persuasion with a BFH. I'll get some pics of the new skid tomorrow. It's pretty nice for the $75 I paid for it.

87manche
the stock piece was hefty, but I bet I gained 2" of clearance with this one, and got a smooth bottom.
pingpong
Nice... where did you get it from? Also how did you gain 2" of GC. IT appears to sit at the same level as the stock t-case. BTW those bolts along the frame, need some kinda protection, especially if you wheel in rocks. They also appear to be self tapers, the will pull out. I know the ones on my Rock rail did after a few months of hard use. Patrick
87manche
Because some moron had boogered up my stock one. It wasn't attached properly and sat WAY below the tranny x-member. They are sell tappers. There's a hole to the rear of tem, I may try and fish some nts into the frame, or got nutsert. I'm not planning on any hardcore rocks. THis was just so I didn't bork it at Winterfest. I'll Figure out what to do with it in the spring, before I go to Uwharrie. My Stock t-case skid had been removed, and the welded back onto the x-member. I don't have a stock one to look at for a fram of reference, but it hung a lot lower than this warn one. I got it from www.cseoffroad.com Was $77 and free shipping. Included all the self tappers. Instructions sucked, but it's not exactly rocket science to put one on. pingpong
It doesn't appear to sit any higher then my stock one that I have, But like you mine has seen better days, and since I have to remake a X-memeber, I was thinging of doing something a lil different. More then likely I will just get some nut inserts as well and make it work, till I get the steel to make my belly up skid. Patrick
87manche
Do you have a picture of your stock one? I should have taken a before pic of mine. It was welded onto the bottom of the trans xmember, and had a bend in it under the t-case. Perhaps it was ment for a 242 and put on the MJ. I don't know. I could see the stock one hanging down from the side of the truck, I can't see this one as I walk up to it. Like I said, somebody had boogered it all up, I'm undoing the years of stupid on my truck. pingpong
I don't think I have any pics of what my t-case skid looks like, but there should be plenty of pics on my webshots page where you can see it from the side. I know in the Independent link in my sig you can see the whole underbody of my rig :D

pingpong
From where I live it is shorter to ride to Paragon :D Never been to Uwharrie, but I know a bunk of zuki guys go there, and their pics have not impressed me. Tellico :D The only problem with that place is you often get stuck behind ill equipped rigs that break. Patrick
87manche
I'm going to visit my brother, he's stationed at jacksonville. Uwharrie is just a perk. He's got a lifte xj, 4" maybe, on 32's I think. I have some pics, but they're huge, and I don't feel like resizing. http://nsjames.net/comanche/jeep%20011.jpg there's a link, it's 1.2 MB if you want to see.
