Scott86mj
I'm working on installing 4.56 gears in the d44. I'm wondering about pinion preload how do I know if I need to shim the inner or outer pinion shims. Measured original shims then I Installed the same thickness with the new shims way too preload. Should I add to both stacks every time or just 1 at a time? Any help would be appreciated.
Scott86mj
I think I should just add to the outer pinion shims. The inner is just for pinion depth am I correct?
DirtyComanche
I think I should just add to the outer pinion shims. The inner is just for pinion depth am I correct? Yes. And don't worry about getting the pre-load bang on. You can't always. A bit too tight is better than too loose.
